An imposing bronze blade slices through the air at the centre of the One Canada Square lift lobby.

Heavily influenced by south east Asia this bronze by William Turnbull is reminiscent of a Chinese chopping knife.

The Scottish born sculptor studied art at the Slade school of art before moving briefly to Paris after the second world war.

Initially a surrealist sculptor, he came into contact with Giacometti in Paris and was influenced by his work.

William Turnbull is considered to be one of the greatest living sculptors and is also known for his abstract painting.
