Brace yourselves east Londoners – a killer zombie disease is set to sweep through Newham.
But this isn’t a re-run of Derren Brown’s Apocalypse. It’s an adrenaline-packed, urban chase named Ruin.
The experience will arrive in the East End in October, so there are a few months left to stock up on medicine and face masks in preparation.
An exact location has not yet been revealed but characters will be played by actors clad in full costume and make up.
Participants follow the plot in their attempt to unearth the truth behind vials of a mysterious ointment that offer a cure to the zombie sickness while attempting to dodge infection themselves.
Those who are caught will be marked with invisible ink – signifying contamination – and will then join the ranks of the living dead.
Co-founder Simon Evans said: “People are always looking for something that will drag them out of their comfort zone and Ruin will do just that.
“Adrenaline and fear will push participants forward but they’ll need to be careful not to let terror overwhelm them – participants will need cunning as well as speed.
“This year the game offers a host of new challenges for our players to contend with as well as new characters to meet and a brand new route that will make the experience completely different to previous years.
“The mission is new, the story is fresh and the gameplay is unlike anything that has come before in 2.8 Hours Later.”
The game is in its final year but founders have since launched a Kickstarter campaign for a bio-activated horror maze named Hyde.
Ruin runs on October 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29 and 31, finishing with a Halloween-themed special.
Tickets start at £38 and are available here .
