It’s August already, but don’t let that get you down – here are three fun things to make your Saturday that bit spicier.
1. Ride on time
Cycling fever will step up a gear in London a week after Chris Froome’s Tour de France triumph. The Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle is a family-friendly mass bike ride on a 10-mile traffic-free route through central London. Cyclists can stop off and enjoy bike-based entertainment and festival zones as they explore the City of London and Westminster. Either pre-register or just turn up for a 9am start. Prudential RideLondon Grand Prix is all about young cycling stars with a boys and girls youth race as well as the chance to watch a professional woman’s challenge in St James’s Park at 5pm.
9am, Various locations in London
2. Reach lofty heights
Unforgettable children’s play Up In The Attic joins three children on an unforgettable bedtime adventure: a journey through the attic at the top of an old house. As they discover the delights and secrets hidden inside, they’re taken on a roller coaster ride of story, song and surprise at Crossrail’s Roof Garden. Entry is free.
1pm-5pm, Crossrail Place
3. Chill out to the max
South London’s own Maxi Priest will bring his smooth sounds to Booklyn Bowl at The O2. The singer was the first reggae musician in history to have a number one hit in both the UK and USA, and he will now play songs from his legendary repertoire and new album Easy to Love. Tickets are £28.
7pm, North Greenwich
