It’s Friday already? It seems only a week since the last one was here. Here are some sure-fire ways to see in the weekend in style if you’re in and around E14.

1. Get an artistic flavour of LA life

The US-based artist is known for his portraits that depict life in his LA community, from drug addicts to artists. Here he presents a fresh series of works made this summer, while using the gallery as his studio.

The exhibition starts on Friday, August 28 at the Carlos/Ishikawa gallery in Stepney. It will run until September 28 and entry is free.

Carlos/Ishikawa, noon-6pm.

2. Take in some provocative theatre

Raven, a show from SynaesTheatre, explores how the decisions we make transform us through the tale of a family who are destroyed by the greed of the ruler of a land. Tickets are £12, and £8.50 for concessions.

The Space, 7.30pm

3. Watch Wayne Rooney’s overhead kick against Man City... again.

Experience iconic Premier League moments with an interactive trip through 23 years of football history at the Sky Sports Fanzone. Visitors will relive historic goals, try out Soccer AM’s car park game and get the chance to take a photo with the Barclays Premier League Trophy. It’s free too.

The O2, from 10am.
