Wimbledon fever is making its way across London to the former Athletes’ Village in Stratford.
East Village will host a tennis-themed summer fair on Sunday, July 12, to coincide with the tournament’s final.
On the day visitors can play tennis, watch live entertainment and munch on a host of British food and drink, as well as view all the action going on in SW19 live (from the comfort of a bean bag).
Among the food on offer will be Firezza’s Wimbledon-pizza, The Market Grill’s surf and turf wraps and Shrimpy’s fish and chips.
There will also be a smores station from Mallow and Marsh, afternoon tea with The Floury and a special Prosecco and Eton Mess ice cream from La Gelatiera.
There will also be four different fun matches on the day, including the aptly named Grunt Match, umpired air tennis with sound effects, Ace where participants hit tennis balls at previous Wimbledon winners (not real ones - dressed scarecrows), as well as a tennis obstacle course and a tennis ball relay race.
Guest performer John Racket-Throw will also be there with his big bag of tricks including racket juggling, giant tennis racket balancing and giant tennis ball spinning.
The event runs from 12pm to 6pm at East Village E20. Enter via the southern end of Victory Park.
