Actor Timothy West will open a new Shakespeare-themed garden in St Leonard Church Gardens on June 14.
The free event, which is part of London Open Squares Weekend and hosted by homeless and addiction charity Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT), will centre around a summer garden party.
The garden has been designed and planted by people in recovery from addictions from the homeless and addiction charity.
Gardening tutor at SCT's New Hanbury Project Janis Wales said: “The students have been working so hard and the results are just fantastic. Shakespeare inspired mosaic stepping stones, apple and plum trees, wild flowers, herbs, benches, a wishing well – we’ve got the lot in just 200sq m of what was formerly a concrete jungle."
Also at the event, organised as part of the charity’s 50th year celebrations, will be Shakespeare readings, live music and pop up choirs, freebies like wild flower seed sowing kits by Grow Wild Kew Gardens.
