Formula 1 big beast Jenson Button is set to appear on the opening night of the London Classic Car Show at Excel.

Expect the belch and growl of other petrol-munching superstars from the likes of the McClaren F1 to four-wheelers from across the planet, taking part in a contest to decide which nations make the best cars.

If it’s faces rather than grilles you’re more interested in (although you should probably question your decision to attend), you’ll also be able to spot celebrities including Jodie Kidd, Suzi Perry (who hosts the opening night), Tom Ford, Bruno Senna and F1 designer Gordon Murray swanning about on preview night – Thursday, February 18, when entry is £40.

Alternatively, pop down during the day to find a wide selection of events, traders, cars to buy, cars to ogle and the thrill and drama of the Grand Avenue.

Just remember to pack that chamois leather and a bottle of T-Cut Colour Fast to buff out any scratches you might accidentally make (other polishing products are available).

Daily, Thursday, February 18-21, from £23, Excel
