It’s that time of year again - time to drink lukewarm tea in a muddy field trussed up in your hat, gloves and scarf that don’t match, while watching gun powder explode in the sky - Hello Bonfire Night!

1. Southwark Park

Details please: You get fireworks set to music, food and drinks stalls and a funfair.

Highlight? It’s a big event. Last year 33,000 people attended, with more expected this year.

5pm, Thursday, November 5, Southwark Park, free (but ticketed).

2. Victoria Park

Details please: Returning after a five year break, this year’s display promises fireworks (also) set to music and a great big bonfire.

Highlight? The beautiful surroundings of Victoria Park, which you can stroll through after it’s all over.

7pm, Saturday, November 7, Victoria Park, Grove Road entrance, free.

3. Blackheath Common

Details please: There will be food and drinks stalls, a funfair and of course, fireworks . This year’s display is designed by Greenwich-based Emergency Exit Arts.

Highlight? It is set in one of the leafiest parts of London.

4. Wanstead Flats, Newham

Details please: The display will be choreographed to music from 1965 to 2015 celebrating 50 years of Newham.

Highlight? You get a little history of the local area with your fireworks

5.30pm, Sunday, November 1, Wanstead Flats, Centre Road, Forest Gate, free

5. The Olympic Park

Details please: The ArcelorMittal Orbit is opening late on Saturday, November 7, so visitors can see fireworks displays across London from the two viewing platforms.

Highlight? From the top of the UK’s tallest sculpture, you will be able to see Hackney Firework Pyromusical, Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival, Blackheath Fireworks, Battersea Park Fireworks and Victoria Park - this is weather permitting though. There will also be a licensed bar open from 5pm.
