Pull on your skating shoes and wrap up warm, Ice Rink Canary Wharf is here.

But no-one likes to look a loner on the rink and stumbling around the sides with a plastic penguin is just as bad.

So we’ve done the hard work of daydreaming for you and picked out five celebs who we think would make the perfect pals on the ice. Maybe you could tweet them with an invite.

Jayne Torvill

1. Former Olympic Skater Jayne Torvill – @torvillanddean

The former pro skater has two Olympic medals to her name courtesy of a partnership with Christopher Dean, so she’s the ideal skate mate.

If you’re any good, she might well put your name forward for the nest series of ITV’s Dancing On Ice, too.

Will Ferrell

2. Film star Will Ferrell – @WillFerrei

He plays figure skater Chazz Michael Michaels in the 2007 flick, Blades of Glory, so he’s got form on the slippery stuff.

And if nothing else, the funnyman is bound to provide a few laughs as you’re slipping, sliding and probably taking a tumble.

Idina Menzel

3. Actress Idina Menzel – @idinamenzel

Does the voice of hit film Frozen’s lead character, Elsa, have form on the rink?

Goodness knows. But she may well chant out a few verses of Let It Go as you’re gliding across the ice so you can get into full Disney mode.

And that’s surely enough?

Suzanne Shaw shoots a trailer at the Canary Wharf Ice Rink

4. Soap star Suzanne Shaw – @SuzanneShaw

She pulled on her skating shoes and practised on Canada Square Park’s rink a few years ago so she’ll be a good guide to stop you getting distracted by the twinkling lights of the towers.

If you’re looking for a skating bud with talent she won reality TV competition Dancing On Ice in 2008, so should be able to show you a move or two.

Channing Tatum

5. Actor Channing Tatum – @channingtatum

The US star proved his fancy footwork in the Step Up films.

But should you miss a beat and fall to the floor, this is one hunk we’d love to come to the rescue.
