I’ve always been a huge Busted fan, writes Aled Evans.

Their music just made sense to me and I enjoyed listening to the wacky songs back when I bleached my hair up to look like my hero Charlie Simpson.

I can still remember hearing the news that Charlie was leaving the band. They were calling it a day. I was shocked and felt a bit short changed as I hadn’t even been to see them live yet.

So you can imagine my excitement when I heard they were getting back together.

It was Friday, May 27, 2016 and the day had finally come. I was off to see Busted play as a full band for the first time. So off I trotted down to The O2 Arena .

I didn’t really know what to expect. Would it be like the McBusted gig which was so crazy? I had a feeling it would be a bit more of a chilled out cool vibe rather than the old school madness of Busted.

The opening was ace, three big video screens showing a video of people going about their day to day lives but wearing freaky pig masks. It had a really horror film vibe to it.

Then came the band’s entrance. Each screen showed a close up of a person wearing one of those freaky pig masks. Who could be behind the masks you ask?

As the lads revealed their identities and burst up through the stage floor the crowd went mad. Mainly screaming girls in their late 20’s early 30’s (I promise I wasn’t screaming too).

The opening song was a new track called Coming Home which was written for the fans that had kept faith and supported the band since the split 12 years ago. The song was great, It’s so different to the previous Busted songs and has a more matured feel to it.

It was great seeing all three of them back on stage together. They really looked like they were having the time of their lives up there. They really gave the fans what they wanted by playing all the hits but with an updated twist.

What I Go To School For had a real heavy fast rock vibe to it and it worked.

As well as the classics we got a taste of a couple of new songs called Easy and One of a Kind and James even pulled out the keytar for this one. Both were fantastic and left me excited for the new album.

The name of the tour is Pigs Can Fly and So James, Matt and Charlie I’ve got to say thank you. It’s safe to say you have left this fan as happy as pigs in s**t.

But please don’t leave it another 12 years.
