Film fans will be able to watch epic Gladiator surrounded by the remains of a Roman amphitheatre when Pop Up Screens returns to London.

Its outdoor cinema events are back for a fifth year, featuring a line-up of classic movies and modern blockbusters.

Initially its screen will arrive at Greenwich Peninsula Central Park for three days.

Take a jazz flute along to Anchorman on Friday, July 29, wear your leather jacket to Grease on Saturday, July 30, or snuggle up in a body warmer for Back to The Future on Sunday, July 31.

On Friday, August 5, the cinema will move to the courtyard of the Guildhall in the City for the first time.

The seven nights of film there include Pulp Fiction, Dirty Dancing, Romeo and Juliet, Stand By Me, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and recent Ryan Reynolds blockbuster Deadpool.

On Monday, August 8, there will be a special screening of Gladiator where visitors will get the chance to see the venue’s Roman Amphitheatre.

Guests can take home comforts such as blankets, beanbags and cushions along or hire a director’s chair for £2.

And for those who don’t want to bring their own snacks there will be popcorn from Drum And Kernel as well as burgers and craft beer on offer.

Pop Up Screens founder David Leydon said: “It is all about creating an atmosphere for you to have fun with your friends and loved ones and see a movie you love.

“There’s no advertising to sit through and no sponsors to indulge, it’s just about you having a good time with a park full of like-minded people.”

Tickets cost £12 for adults, £6 for children or £25 for a weekend pass.
