The Baby Show returns to Excel for three days bringing more than 200 exhibitors together with expectant mothers in Royal Docks.
In addition to the massive selection of products for mums and their offspring, a crucial topic for those expecting will also be addressed – exercise and fitness.
The Wharf’s exercise guru, Laura Williams who is qualified in pre-and-post natal fitness and has recently launched a Pilates-based fitness classes for mums at Burrells Wharf on Thursday mornings , will be speaking at the show on its first day – Friday, February 19.
She said: “I’ll be telling mums that exercise works in so many ways when you’re pregnant – it can help to reduce varicose veins and cramps and enable you to control weight gain.
“It’s vital to remember you don’t need to commit to a drastic exercise regime either – you can use your daily walk to maximise both fitness and calorie-burning benefits by varying speed and including hills, for example.
“Another idea might be to put a Swiss ball to good use by employing it for wall squats, bridges, pelvic tilts or simply as a seat.
"But don’t get too intense. As a general rule, you should be able to hold a conversation as you exercise. If you become breathless, then you’re probably exercising too hard.”
Entry to the show is £20 on the door .
