Transport for London has announced it only needs three more weekend closures to complete refurbishment work on the Blackwall Tunnel.

Work has progressed so quickly the project to improve safety on the tunnel will finish in December, a year ahead of schedule.

The Rotherhithe Tunnel is to close from Sundays to Thursdays for the next three weeks, starting this weekend.

The road link will shut between 10pm and 5am for five nights a week between January 10-28 for engineering works.
