THE Run to the Beat half-marathon will see thousands of runners take to the streets of Greenwich on Sunday – but do not be surprised to see one competitor walking.

Jo Jackson, Britain’s top female race walker, is taking part in the race.

But she will not be breaking her stride to try to outrun her fellow athletes.

She said: “There’s absolutely no temptation to run. Once you get your technique right it’s hard to break the rhythm so you don’t want to run."

YOU can now run in, on and tumble through Canary Wharf during lunchtime martial arts training classes.

The new and novel high-energy sessions will see a jog through the estate interwoven with martial arts moves and exercises using “local street furniture”.

Trainer Adam Horner (pictured left) said: “Canary Wharf is sometimes describes as the world’s financial playground but I want to see the Wharf in a different light. To me, the Docklands and Canary Wharf in particular is a martial fitness playground and I am going to show you what I mean every Wednesday.
