Royal Mail's Address Management Unit, which manages a database of over 1.75 million UK postcodes, has created the new E20 postcode to accommodate the Olympic Park site which falls across four London boroughs.

Proposals have been announced by Royal Mail to close its East London Mail Centre which unions claim would result in the loss of 700 jobs.

The Communication Workers Union is campaigning to save the depot at Twelve Trees Crescent, which serves the whole of north and east London including Canary Wharf.

A first class athlete helped launch the second of Royal Mail's London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games stamps at Newham Leisure Centre this week.

Docklands paraplegic table tennis player Jane Campbell, 41, from Limehouse, who is part of Team GB was there to celebrate her sport being featured on the new stamps titled On Track For 2012.

01feb14postbox.jpgPOSTBOXES in Docklands have been sealed shut for more than a week – because the red-faced Royal Mail lost a set of keys.

Steel shutters were put across the slots of 10 boxes on the Isle of Dogs after the postal service misplaced the keys used to open them to collect mail.

Bemused residents were given no explanation for the sudden closures. Many claim the postboxes have been closed for a month, but Royal Mail says they have only been shut for just over a week.
