Police hunt gang after DLR attack

A commuter who asked a group of teenagers to stop spitting at fellow passengers was followed down the road and attacked.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, was at Greenwich DLR on Monday June 22, when he confronted the group on the platform.

Gang violence has been blamed for a clash which left two Isle of Dogs teens in hospital with stab wounds.

A 17 and 14 year old were taken to separate East London hospitals after a battle involving around 30 youths between Cahir Street and Harbinger Road at around 5.30pm last Friday (May 29).

A pair of youths were taken to hospital with stabbing injuries after an incident between Cahir Street and Harbinger Road on Friday.

Officers were called to the scene following a report of "public disorder" involving between 20 and 30 peopl. A 17-year-old and 14-year old were treated for wounds that were "not life threatening". Police report the 17-year-old had been stabbed in the bottom.

British Transport Police suspended Jubilee line services from 10pm tonight after a man threatened to hurl himself of a bridge at West Ham station. Tube staff reported the trains were terminated at North Greenwich in a bid to control the incident.

Police have arrested a man in connection with an assault which left a victim in a critical condition in hospital.

The incident happened at about 3.25am on Monday morning at Westferry Road on the Isle of Dogs in flats near the old fire station.

A Jubilee line train travelling to Stratford was searched by police this morning after a report of a man concealing a gun.

Metropolitan Police officers scoured the eastbound train at West Ham following a tip off, but services returned to normal just before noon after no weapon was found.

Police have welcomed the conviction of a man who committed a "horrendous" sexual assault on a woman returning from Canary Wharf two years ago.

Alomgir Rouf, 21, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to four years in jail and will be on the sex offenders register for life following his conviction last week.

Fear of G20 protests has provoked a rash of denim on the Wharf for a second day, but bankers may as well have stuck to their suits in Docklands.

Aside from a increased security presence including a number of police patrols, Canary Wharf has remained untroubled by activists.

The protests at Excel certainly don't match the drama of yesterday's clashes in the City, but police are taking no chances.

Those entering and leaving Canning Town station are being searched under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.

It is difficult not to applaud the efforts of Keep Britain Tidy. The organisation's efforts to de-gum our world are energetic and laudable.

I feel mean, therefore, lobbing a discarded cigarette of criticism onto the thankless pavement of their good works.

New Met commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson has criticised Tower Hamlets Police for hoisting a gay rights flag outside its station.

The rainbow flag was raised outside Limehouse Police Station for a day on Monday (February 2) in support of LGBT history month.

A row over allocated parking spaces led to a 59-year-old van driver being punched and kicked to the ground.

The incident took place at around 6pm on Saturday (January 17) when the victim attempted to park in an allocated space in Wapping's West Gardens.

A YOUNG Poplar woman was among the friends who died when their car veered off the A12 and hit a tree.

Ashley Plumber, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident on Sunday (January 18). Fellow passengers Nathalie Mithsud, 21, and Terry Pluck, 23 - who both lived in Bow - were also killed. Two other occupants of the vehicle are in hospital.
