Former West Ham player John Bond has died at the age of 79. He was best known as a manager of Norwich and Manchester City but he formulated his early thoughts on running a club at Upton Park.

He made 444 appearances for the club over 16 years, winning the FA Cup in 1964. "John was a real character with a great sense of humour and presence. He will be sadly missed," said Howard Wilkinson, chairman of the League Managers' Association.
