Lloyds chairman Sir Win Bischoff has urged business not to turn its back on Britain's youth.

Sir Win, who is also chairman of Career Academies UK, which works with colleges and employers to give teenagers high-end work experience, met hundreds of participants in the scheme at a ceremony for graduates of the programme last week.

Wharfinger: Aldgate

Aldgate was the easternmost gate of a number built by the Romans, one of seven whose names live on a modern map.

The original Aldgate linked the City of London and Whitechapel and sat in the London Wall. The wall was a form of defence constructed by the Romans and it is believed Aldgate spanned the road to Colchester.
