Featuring a number of elements seen on the current shield, a new design has been created ahead of Greenwich officially becoming a Royal Borough on February 3.

So says Michael Jones owner of Drings in Greenwich, which has built such a reputation for selling premium poultry that customers queue along the street to pick up their turkeys in the days leading up to the big feast.

The three masts were erected over the weekend on the Greenwich landmark, has been closed since November 2006, is due to be reopened by The Queen next spring after a £50million conservation project.

Christopher Christou, 26, of Bolton House in Trafalgar Road, was put under surveillance by the Met Police's Flying Squad for six weeks in May and June and was found to be monitoring cash in transit deliveries in preparation for the robbery.
