aaron morris142.jpgTwo men from Tower Hamlets have been jailed for eight years each for being part of a gang involved in a plan to steal £5million of drugs.

Aaron Morris, 22, of Fawe Street and Mark Morris, 37, of East India Dock Road, were sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to supply controlled drugs.

Police performed a lockdown on a Newham road which has seen brazen street selling of crack cocaine and heroin.

Officers swooped on Romford Road, E7, on Wednesday night, when they blocked off a section of the street and made four arrests on suspicion of selling class A drugs.

Police have arrested a female security guard near the Olympic site on suspicion of possessing explosives and Class A drugs following a tip-off.

The 40-year-old, who is a dog handler, was stopped and searched by the Olympic Site Support Unit in a car park near Pudding Mill Lane on Tuesday.

The five man gang operated from a unit at Cable Street Studios, which was raided by police on August 27 last year. The premises were used to cut and mix drugs, and officers found cocaine and heroin there with a street value of £11,750, along with over £10,000 in cash.

A quantity of cannabis was discovered by officers in Roffey Street last week.

Blackwall and Cubitt Town Safer Neighbourhoods team raided the premises on January 6, and a 26-year-old was arrested for cannabis possession.

A Greenwich businessman has been jailed and fined £274,000 for shipping class A drugs across the UK.

Mark Anthony Gard, 43, of Armitage Road, used a fleet of vans issued by a legitimate parcel delivery business to run a drug-delivery operation.

Police have raided an Isle of Dogs address as part of an investigation into prostitution and drug use at a lap dancing club.

Following a six-month operation codenamed Vermillion, officers raided the Goodge Street Capricorn Club and eight London and Essex addresses. They made seven arrests.

Residents of an Isle of Dogs estate have won a small victory over drug use under their noses.

Occupants of New Union Wharf have complained of persistent drug problems on the estate for several months, with youths dealing and smoking cannabis outside and from an untaxed car.

A small amount of herbal cannabis, 60g of cocaine and various drug paraphernalia was seized in the raid, which was executed by East India and Lansbury Safer Neighbourhoods Team on December 9.

POLICE have recovered around £45,000 worth of heroin in a raid on a Millharbour property.

Officers seized around a kilogram of the drug as well as bundles of money totalling more than £50,000 in one of the biggest heroin busts recorded in the borough.
