A 30 metre safety cordon surrounding a workshop fire in Deptford has been removed after firefighters brought the blaze under control.

Propane gas cylinders on the Mornington Road premises were cooled and removed from the premises and the fire was out just before 12.30pm.

BT is still trying to restore full phone and internet service around East London after a contractor damaged cables in a tunnel.

The incident affected 75,000 customers in the region at around 2pm on Saturday, and 25,000 are still waiting for their lines to be restored.
