Crossrail has announced that Andrew Wolstenholme has been appointed as its new Chief Executive

He will succeed Rob Holden, who is stepping down in mid-July, and will take up the post in September. Mr Wolstenholme is currently a director of construction company Balfour Beatty.

Construction of the London 2012 Handball Arena is now complete, making it the third venue on the Olympic Park ready for the Games next year. The last brick has been laid at Westfield Stratford City as construction of the 1.9million sq ft shopping centre is now complete.

This gives its retailers and other occupiers a six-month period to fit out ahead of the scheme's opening this September.

Grattan Property's 45-storey One Park Place development would feature 920,000 square feet of net internal office space, as well as an additional 11,000 square feet of restaurants and retail.

The light-catching building has also been designed to allow easy access to the western end of the West India Dock.

Architect Horden Cherry Lee was selected to design the building last summer. An application is expected by the end of the month, and the three-year construction schedule could begin by early 2009.
