Gus Poyet said Charlton supporters must be patient with Addicks boss Phil Parkinson after the Londoners fell to a 4-0 defeat to league leaders Brighton on Saturday.

The manager of the south-coast side has close links to Charlton through his son Diego playing for the youth team, and said he knows what a difficult job Parkinson has got.

The Seagulls head to The Valley on Saturday looking to repeat the trick of last season that saw them take all three points off the Addicks.

Defeat returned to The Valley in a disappointing evening for Charlton on Tuesday as they were beaten by a goal in each half by relegation threatened Brighton.

It was frustrating evening for Charlton who, after a nervy start, began to impose themselves on the game only to be hit by a counter-attack goal from Inigo Calderon.

Charlton have doubts over Frazer Richardson and Rob Elliot for Tuesday night's League One clash with Brighton at The Valley.

Both picked up slight groin strains in Saturday's 2-0 win over Yeovil, which saw goals from Kyel Reid and David Mooney give the Addicks their first win in six games.

Steve Morison helped Millwall collect nine points out of nine as they held on to their play-off spot for another week.

The striker rounded keeper Michael Kuipers on 49 minutes to score the only goal of the game, slightly salving the memories of a 4-1 drubbing on the coast last time out.

The Addicks went back to winning ways on the road, with Deon Burton and Scott Wagstaff scoring the goals to give them their first away victory since August.

The 2-0 win at Brighton's Withdean Stadium gave Charlton some breathing space over their rivals with Colchester losing to Brentford and Huddersfield drawing to Tranmere.
