Charlton head to Barnsley on Saturday for another must-win game in their relegation battle.

The Addicks, who are three points adrift at the bottom of the Championship, have no new injuries before the trip to Barnsley, but Zheng Zhi is still not fit enough to take part in the match.

Charlton manager Phil Parkinson has urged the Addicks board to splash the cash in the January transfer window to save the club from relegation.

Caretaker boss Parkinson saw his side crash 3-1 at Sheffield United yesterday, leaving them rooted to the foot of the Championship table as they head into the New Year.

CHARLTON'S preparations for Saturday's match at Cardiff have been disrupted by an injury to Zheng Zhi.

In a week dominated by talk of a potential takeover from Dubai Investors, on the pitch the Addicks were dealt a blow when it was confirmed Zizi out for between two to three months with an ankle injury.

Manager Alan Pardew said: "Prior to the Ipswich game he was moaning a little bit about his foot which we think was just a bang he got in training from a tackle, an innocuous challenge.

"But following a scan we realised there was an underlying problem which we had to operate on this week, so we've lost a key player there."

CHARLTON'S defence got a much needed boost before Monday night's transfer deadline.

Portsmouth defender Martin Cranie has signed on loan until the end of this year.

The England under-21 international joined the Addicks just 20 minutes before the the deadline on Monday, September 1.

CHARLTON boss Alan Pardew has revealed he has placed his trust in the Chinese FA over Zheng Zhi’s fitness.

The Addicks midfielder was reported to be set to miss the Olympics after damaging his back.

However, this week he was declared fit for the tournament with Zhi, who is with the national team in China as one of the team's 'over-age' players, brushing it off as an old injury.

While Pardew may be worried that Zhi playing could risk increasing the injury, the Charlton manager said he trusted the Chinese FA to do what was best for the 27-year-old midfielder.
