SIGNALLING problems could knock out key Docklands Light Railway lines until the evening rush hour.

The routes between Canary Wharf and Bank and Poplar to Canary Wharfwill be out while contractors try to fix a signalling problem at Westferry.

A spokesman for Transport for London said: "Contractors were installing new signalling equipment over the weekend, and they've found something which needs to be fixed. We would hope to have the problem resolved by the rush hour."

DLR COMMUTERS may have to plot a slightly different route out of the Wharf at the end of the month.

The rail operator's run of maintenance works will spill into the week next Thursday and Friday (September 25 and 26), as trains between West India Quay and Westferry are suspended to allow construction on an extra track.

Continuing engineering works on the Docklands Light Railway means services between Westferry and West India Quay are likely to be suspended for the rest of this week.

Weekend work to extend platforms in readiness for the introduction of three carriage trains on the network ran into unexpected problems with a bridge in Poplar.

Howard Smith, Chief Operating Officer, London Rail said: "During engineering works over the weekend to prepare the DLR network for three carriage trains, engineers working on a bridge at Poplar identified additional works would be needed this week.
