City Pride staff are cautiously preparing for next year's London Marathon festivities.

Marathon day is traditionally the Westferry Road pub's busiest day of the year. But many believed April's event would be its last before it was closed to make way for Glenkerrin's 62-storey Pride development.

Police have arrested a man in connection with an assault which left a victim in a critical condition in hospital.

The incident happened at about 3.25am on Monday morning at Westferry Road on the Isle of Dogs in flats near the old fire station.

A HIT and run driver is being hunted by police after a man in his 80s was left in a life threatening condition.

Witnesses are being urged to come forward following the incident on Westferry Road at 11:15pm last night.

Blaze hits disused Island pub

A DISUSED Isle of Dogs pub was damaged by fire late on Sunday, despite being next door to Millwall fire station.

Four engines crewed by 20 firefighters were called to the blaze at the Anchor and Hope on Westferry Road at 9.53pm and had the fire under control by 11.24pm. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
