Charlton missed out on going second after a poor performance on Sunday saw them lose at home to Walsall.

The midland side, who started the match bottom of League One, took all three points thanks to a Matt Richards goal in the second half.

Charlton got their second equaliser of the week but again missed out on a valuable three points in Tuesday night's clash at Walsall.

A Deon Burton penalty on the stroke of half-time cancelled out Troy Deeney's opener but the Addicks could not find a way through in the second half despite the home side going down to 10 men.

The former Stevenage striker carried on his solid work in the absence of Neil Harris and Gary Alexander, scoring both goals in a come-from-behind victory over Walsall.

Charlton's winning run continued on Saturday with goals from Miguel Llera and Scott Wagstaff ensuring a comfortable victory against Walsall.

The result - the Addicks' fourth win in four games this season - sees them leapfrog Colchester United to go top of League One.
