Olympiclogo.jpgVictoria Park in Tower Hamlets is one of three open spaces selected to be at the heart of London Live - the extravaganza celebrating the arrival of the Olympic Games in the capital.

It will join Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square in being transformed by event promoters Live Nation into giant fan parks with the sport screened live, free entertainment and activities to take part in.

Festival fever has descended on Victoria Park once again with some great weekends of music and fun.

Last weekend saw Field Day take over the park with Wild Beasts headlining and some wilder outfits in the audience.

The skies above Tower Hamlets will be lit up this weekend by the annual fireworks celebration in Victoria Park.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Blitz and the display will mark this milestone, as well as raising funds for the campaign to erect a memorial to those victims of the Bethnal Green Tube Disaster of 1943.

The Millwall striker was in the Lions side edged out 3-2 by Scunthorpe in last month's Wembley showpiece but he's putting his disappointment behind him by taking part in the Keep Your Eye On The Ball run this Sunday.

The fourth round FA Cup tie at Victoria Park will be screened live on ITV1 and Gianfranco Zola’s men will have to be on their mettle to ensure they don't follow Stoke City as victims of a cup upset.

MILLWALL fans should head to Victoria Park this Sunday to rub shoulders with some of their heroes and raise cash for a good cause at the same time.

Nearly 300 men from around the country will be competing in Keep Your Eye on the Ball 5K run at the park, in Hackney, for the Everyman Male Cancer Campaign.

The event, which kick-starts Everyman Month in June, has been organised with support from The FA and The PFA. Millwall players Neil Harris, Paul Robinson, Danny Spiller and Chris Hackett, along with Derby County's Alan Stubbs, Notts County's Adam Tann and Hull City's Matt Duke, are all taking part.
