Families affected by an arson attack at their Tiller Road block are still waiting to return home more than a week later.

Landlord East Thames put the occupants of five flats into hotel accommodation at Excel's Premier Inn a day after fire broke out at Hammond House on August 2.

Around 20 people were evacuated from a Poplar flat during a fire on Sunday.

Fire crews from Millwall and surrounding stations were called to the four-storey building in Tiller Road at 10.25pm. The team of eight fire engines and 40 firefighters had the blaze under control by 1.08am, with damage limited to a quarter of the roof and a small part of the third floor.
