A Thames Clipper with more than fifty people on board crashed into a pier injuring a number of passengers last night.

Four people were taken to hospital after the boat hit Tower Millennium Pier at around 7pm.

A woman was saved but a man is still missing after the pair fell into the Thames late last night.

The incident took place near Canary Wharf Pier just after midnight on Wednesday evening and saw a Thames Clipper involved in the rescue attempt.

Oyster cards will be accepted on Thames Clipper ferries from November.

A new direct service from Canary Wharf to London Bridge has also been unveiled by London Mayor Boris Johnson as part of a package of river transport improvements for the capital.
