Charlton's new owners were given a rude awakening to life at The Valley as lowly Swindon left the Addicks embarrassed in front of the TV cameras.

Chairman Michael Slater was among the crowd for the first time since taking over at SE7 but it was Swindon who turned on the style.

After two closely fought victories against top six opposition Charlton fans were delighted to have a comfortable win on Tuesday night.

Goals from Johnnie Jackson, Joe Anyinsah and a sixth of the season from Paul Benson, saw the Addicks romp home at Swindon.

The Addicks' victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday made it back to back wins for the first time this season but can they go a step further at Swindon tonight.

Charlton have not won three in a row since December but the League One fixture at the County Ground will be an ideal time as the Londoners look for revenge in Wiltshire.

Charlton went crashing out of the play-offs in an eventful evening at The Valley on Monday night.

The Addicks hit the woodwork three times - twice in extra time - before captain Nicky Bailey missed the decisive penalty in a shoot-out and Swindon kept their nerve from the spot.

Charlton fell to defeat at the County Ground on Friday but the team are still very much in contention going into Monday's second leg play-off semi final.

Swindon stole the advantage with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Charlie Austin and Danny Ward. Deon Burton got a goal back for the Addicks.

However, despite the joy of Nickey Bailey's late leveller, deep into injury time, it means the Addicks remain without a win in four games.

When Charlton played Swindon in December the Addicks secured a last gasp equaliser after both Sam Sodje and Deon Burton were sent off in the first half.

The Robins have been on fire since that match, winning four out of five, including a 3-0 thrashing of Leeds.

Christmas is the time for miracles but not many would have expected nine-men Charlton to come away with a point in Saturday's clash with Swindon Town.

The Addicks had both Sam Sodje and Deon Burton sent off within forty minutes of the start of the match but still managed to go in at half-time 1-0 up thanks to a Jonjo Shelvey strike.
