Gang violence has been blamed for a clash which left two Isle of Dogs teens in hospital with stab wounds.

A 17 and 14 year old were taken to separate East London hospitals after a battle involving around 30 youths between Cahir Street and Harbinger Road at around 5.30pm last Friday (May 29).

Island Homes has been given until the end of the month to make moves to restore residents to its board.

The group, which manages nearly 2,100 homes on the Isle of Dogs, has been told it is providing a "poor, no star service" in an Audit Commission report to be published on Thursday.

A YOUTH who attacked two Isle of Dogs councillors has been jailed for four months after failing to carry out his community service.

Phil Briscoe and Shirley Houghton, both Conservative members of Tower Hamlets Council, were set upon near the Barkantine Estate last September.

Thanks to CCTV cameras police tracked down the culprits, who were ordered to carry out community service by Thames Magistrates Court.
