Libyan heroine docks at South Quay

In the recent Libyan conflict it became the first British Navy ship to return fire in almost 30 years. This weekend HMS Liverpool was in calmer waters as it made a stop-off in Docklands before being decommissioned in March.

The ship recently returned from Libya where it served as part of the NATO armed forces.

A display of Royal Navy capabilities ended in embarrassment when one of the boats taking part hit a bridge.

Thecity.co.uk reported a hovercraft involved in the showcase crashed into Blackfriars bridge at 2.40pm yesterday afternoon.

PLA_Bulwark_37WM.JPGRoyal Navy warship HMS Bulwark will moor alongside at Greenwich tomorrow for the start of a five-day visit to the capital.

Bulwark is one of the UK's largest and most technologically advanced amphibious assault and command and control ship and will be displaying her capabilities at a demonstration between 9am and 1pm.

The Type 23 frigate HMS Westminster has berthed at South Quay where she will stay until Sunday.

The ship, which last year emerged from a multi-million pound refit, has recently completed operational sea tries and is ready to deploy to protect the UK's maritime security.
