IT’S the biggest fight of his boxing career but Micky Steeds has another special event to worry about on October 3.

The Isle of Dogs boxer takes on Robert Norton for the vacant British cruiserweight title that evening, the same day his wife is expecting their second child.

THE Canary Wharf Jog is drawing nearer and this is one runner who will be helping to set the pace.

Diane Kay, sales and marketing manager at Canary Wharf’s Reebok Gym, will be leading a team of 20 colleagues at the jog on June 4.

The Reebok team will be leading the warm-up for 1,500 runners in Canada Square and Diane believes jogging is an excellent way to keep fit.

She said: “I’m a very keen runner and it’s certainly helps prevent heart problems and improves your fitness. And the Canary Wharf Jog is only 10km so it’s not too difficult.�

Diane has already clocked up some impressive distances, including the New York and Chicago marathons but the Canary Wharf event is something special to her.

A FUTURISTIC two-tower scheme may soon rise from the ashes of the Trafalgar Way McDonald's restaurant.

Helix-London is a 397-unit residential complex boasting a children's play area, creche, convenience stores and a garden area. The current McDonald's eatery will also return as a ground-floor outlet.

Developers are also eyeing up several improvements for passing pedestrians as part of the scheme, which was submitted to planners last month.

McDonalds is currently located on the cusp of the Aspen Way roundabout, in the midst of hotbed of potential developments including the 3,000-home Blackwall Reach scheme.
