Reader's Digest UK has been rescued after a deal was thrashed out to take it out of administration.
The monthly magazine, published in Canary Wharf, has been acquired by private equity firm Better Capital in a £13million deal.
It might be the most widely read magazine in the world but that has not stopped the UK arm of Reader's Digest going into administration.
The publisher, based in Westferry Circus, filed for administration today after a deal to save its pension fund collapsed, putting around 135 jobs at risk.

FORMER Sunday Telegraph editor Sarah Sands has returned to Canary Wharf to re-launch the UK edition of the perennially popular Reader’s Digest – and she says she has big plans to shake up its image in the market.
Since coming on board at the Westferry Circus-based company in May this year, she has been putting changes in place and aims to increase the title’s visibility, including plans to stock it alongside its contemporaries on news stands and at airports.
