A passion for cheese has landed Plateau's head chef the top prize in a national competition
Allan Pickett who took over at the Canary Wharf restaurant earlier this year won the London round of Vive le Cheese with his recipe for Poached Pear and Bleu d'Aurvergne.
It's tough to stay at the top of the restaurant business these days but chef Allan Pickett is determined to keep Plateau at the cutting edge.
It has long been one of the flagship restaurants in Canary Wharf, and Pickett, who joined as head chef last summer, is determined to maintain Plateau's status.

While the service is old fashioned five star, the menu could benefit from a little modernising.

Cocktails seem to be in and out of fashion more often than Lady GaGa.
But are they cool? Gone are the days of naff paper umbrellas, sparklers and glacé cherries.
Now sophisticated cocktail bars specialise in serving up suave concoctions that seem to be back in vogue.

The new dining destinations around Canada Square could help the Canary Wharf Ice Rink enjoy its "best year ever".
By the time the first skater steps onto the ice on November 14, all of the restaurants in the new Park Pavilion are expected to be open.

There are plenty of restaurants on the Wharf. And there are plenty of bars and plenty of grills.
But there are few venues that offer the comforts of all three, and only one that boasts views over Canada Square.

YOU may be forgiven for thinking that the bars around the Wharf are already filled with their fair share of snakes and charmers, especially if you happen to be out drinking post 9pm on a Thursday night.
But pay a visit to the über chic Plateau and you’ll come face to face with a real snake and its charmer, willowy beauty Solariss and her 7ft albino Burmese python Sheba.
The exotic pair are part of Plateau’s Moroccan Nights, a nightly event inspired by the mysterious souks of Marrakech and the cinnabar-soaked casbahs of Casablanca.
