The estate landlord picked up the long leasehold interests from receivers acting for Park Place SARL last week, after several years of interest.

GRATTAN properties has been cleared to construct a distinctive new tower near Westferry Circus.

Tower Hamlets Council approved plans for the 45-storey office building on Thursday night, despite objections from neighbours Credit Suisse.

Plans for One Park Place were unveiled by architect Horden Cherry Lee in March.

The tower will measure just under 200 metres, with an additional structure rising to 80 metres.

It will feature 122,615 square metres of offices, restaurants and retail.

A NEW office building could be springing up near Westferry Circus by 2012.

Grattan Property will find out tonight (Thursday) if its proposal for a 45-storey light-catching tower meets the standards of Tower Hamlets Council.

One Park Place will be examined by the strategic development committee after officers recommended the project be approved by councillors.

Architect Horden Cherry Lee drew up a design in March which will see a flagship building of just under 200 metres joined to an 80-metre structure.

A BOUTIQUE 150-bedroom hotel could be on the cards near Westferry Circus.

Plans for the luxury hotel overlooking the Heron Quays roundabout have been submitted to Tower Hamlets Council.

Architect Patel Taylor has drawn up a clear and opaque glass design for the 37-storey tower and podium development, known as Newfoundland.

It has been proposed by South Quay Properties, which is part of estate owner Canary Wharf Group. The 2,500 square metre site is currently a 75-space private car park.

AN "ICONIC" high-rise addition to the Canary Wharf estate could be unveiled by 2012.

Grattan Property's 45-storey One Park Place development would feature 920,000 square feet of net internal office space, as well as an additional 11,000 square feet of restaurants and retail.

The light-catching building has also been designed to allow easy access to the western end of the West India Dock.

Architect Horden Cherry Lee was selected to design the building last summer. An application is expected by the end of the month, and the three-year construction schedule could begin by early 2009.
