BRINGING a little of the natural world into the sleek marble lobby of One Canada Square may seem like a challenge.
But one Sussex-based artist is set to do just that when a collection of her work goes on display later this month.
Alison Crowther is best known for creating imaginative seating and benches from English oak. But between September 15 and November 22, a selection of her striking wooden sculptures will be on show at Canary Wharf’s iconic tower.

William Raban is a film-maker, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a story-teller.
The Mile End-based artist began to explore cinema after studying painting in the 1970s. And he believes you can capture more of a scene by just shooting it, rather than manipulating it with plots and fancy editing.
He said: “When I film, I try to be invisible. I like to think I’m attempting to achieve a sort of objectivity.
“I worked with actors once but I’m not really that interested in narrative cinema. Life on the street is so interesting that I can’t imagine why people would want to invent stories.�

Fitness fanatics Heather Derbyshire and Karen Fingerhut kicked off a globe-trotting endurance challenge by completing a three-legged climb of the tower’s 54-flight fire escape on Sunday (April 6).
They scaled the 1,188 stairs in just 14 minutes and 34.69 seconds, setting a completely new world record in the process.
