Happy New Year and all the best for 2010. This is my first week back after the Christmas break and my operation. Thanks to everyone who sent get well wishes.

I'm only doing part-time this week, but have made a good start back, and my team has dealt with most of the business while I've been absent.

Santa's heading to Mudchute Farm on Sunday December 13 for the venue's Christmas party.

The visit will take place between 10 and 1am, while arts and crafts activities and storytelling will be on offer for the children, and mulled will be available for parents.

Mudchute Farm employees have not ruled out further strike action as they prepare to head to the negotiating table.

Staff staged a one-day strike last month in protest against “bullying and harassment� at the inner-city farm. And union officials have warned more walk-outs will follow if planned talks break down.

The inner-city farm's nursery and after-school club were closed on Friday as workers picketed in protest against alleged "bullying and harassment" by chief executive Andrew Johnston.

It is not something you would naturally associate with the gritty urban landscape of east London but Mudchute Farm, at the heart of the Island, is rapidly becoming a centre of excellence in the breeding of rare animals.

IT is the green heart of the Isle of Dogs and if one man’s vision comes to fruition, it will become the green heart of east London.

Mudchute Farm has been proposed as the site of an ambitious state-of-the-art Eco Centre.

The centre, a showpiece facility for sustainable business practices, would provide information on products and services such as recycling, energy conservation and building design, all currently high on the business agenda.

Millwall Rugby Club will celebrate the end of the season with their annual festival at Mudchute Farm this Saturday.

With the official league season drawing to a close, the Isle of Dogs club have begun preparations for their annual Millwall England v Millwall Rest of the World match, where all the English adult men’s players from the club take on a Barbarians-like team featuring players from over 15 countries.

The festival day also features matches from the Millwall U12s, U14s, Millwall Venus - the club’s Ladies section - and the hugely successful U16s.
