A Greenwich man has been jailed at the Old Bailey for eight years after being convicted of a robbery in Thamesmead.

Christopher Christou, 26, of Bolton House in Trafalgar Road, was put under surveillance by the Met Police's Flying Squad for six weeks in May and June and was found to be monitoring cash in transit deliveries in preparation for the robbery.

Police in the boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Newham will have to make a combined cut of nearly £5million in next year's spending, according to recent proposals.
