Fire breathing, flexible felines on podiums and scantily clad hostesses were out in force creating surprisingly hypnotic visuals at the launch of Proud2 last week. There was some good music too. March 3 saw the opening party of the new superclub at The O2 arena, packed with a line up of live acts and DJ sets from The Mystery Jets, The Bees, Friendly Fires, Horse Meat Disco and Mr Hudson.

The O2's superclub, matter, is to reopen permanently in March.

The venue, which closed down last year, is to be renamed Proud2 when it reopens as part of the Proud Group's portfolio of venues. Regular club nights will start on March 5, following an extensive renovation and restyling of the interior, and the new owners promise a Las Vegas-style experience.

Clubbers can look forward to kicking off 2011 in style after plans to reopen The O2's superclub Matter were revealed.

A spectacular circus-themed party on New Year's Eve will re-start club nights at the venue which has been closed since former promoters Fabric shut the doors last May.

American hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash's gig at Matter in North Greenwich has been cancelled.

The musician was due to perform in the O2 arena club on June 12, but the event has now been scrapped due to a "timing issue".

LONDON will welcome a new venue on Thursday when the 2,600-capacity Matter nightclub opens at the O2 Arena. The Wharf talks to founder Cameron Leslie about his hopes for the new venture.

It’s the little things that can ruin a night out. Maybe the club is too hot, the queues are too long, or the guy in front of you just ordered cocktails for 70 of his friends.

But just as some of us were thinking of locking ourselves in our homes with a pint of bitter, it seems someone’s finally listening.

Tickets go on sale today for the opening night at Matter, the new hi-tech clubbing venue at The O2.

The launch itself comes a month later on September 19 when trip-hop experimentalists Unkle, centred on producer James Lavelle, headline.
