Olympic 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu has been unveiled as the official patron of the 2010 Balfour Beatty London Youth Games.

The 25-year-old Newham & Essex Beagles athlete is lending her support to Europe's largest annual youth sport event, which sees over 47,000 participants from the 33 boroughs competing in 30 different sports.

His discipline is overshadowed by other forms of rowing but Olympic kayaking champion Tim Brabants is hoping to change that, starting with an event in Docklands this weekend.

Brabants, who won gold in the K1 1,000m in Beijing last year, will be at the London Youth Games regatta in the Royal Docks this Saturday offering advice and encouragement to budding Olympians.
