Spurs and Leyton Orient had both applied for a judicial review into the process that saw the Olympic Park Legacy Company decide in West Ham's favour earlier this year.

A statement will be made by the Government at around lunchtime today about the future of the £500million venue, after a complaint was made to the European Union about Newham Council's £40million contribution as part of the deal.

aa-whstadium142.jpgWest Ham have claimed that Tottenham offered to drop their legal challenge over the Olympic Stadium if the Hammers asked the police to drop their inquiry into Spurs' use of a private investigator.

The Irons refused the request, which was made yesterday - just as Spurs and Leyton Orient were granted leave for a judicial review on October 18.

Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur have won the latest round in the battle to take possession of the Olympic Stadium after 2012.

The club has won permission to mount a legal challenge to the decision by the Olympic Park Legacy Company to award the stadium to West Ham.

Leyton Orient have announced it has launched a judicial review against Newham Council over its role in helping West Ham United win the Olympic stadium post-2012.

It comes just hours after Tottenham Hotspur revealed they was also taking the borough to court over the same issue.

Flying winger Scott Wagstaff was the matchwinner for Charlton on Friday night, scoring one and setting another up as the Addicks took all three points in east London.

After taking the lead through an Alan McCormack goal it turned sour in the second half when Scott McGleish equalised early in the second period and moments later Christian Dailly was sent off.
