Defeat at Leeds United saw Millwall pegged back in the fight at the bottom of the Championship table.

To get anything at Elland Road was always going to be difficult. The fitting gestures in memory of former Leeds player Gary Speedbefore the start of the game produced a strange atmosphere for a Leeds v Millwall game.

Gary Alexander put the first notch in Leeds United's loss column as Millwall continued their strong recent run.

In a tight game at the Den, the striker nodded home seven minutes from time to chalk up his first league goal this season.

The Yorkshire club will be out to avenge their play-off defeat by the Lions last season and it should make for a memorable game.

It may have been a third away match in a row without a win but Charlton will take heart from a strong display against Leeds United.

Following on from a 3-0 defeat at Colchester, the Addicks were given the tough the task of visiting the unbeaten league leaders.

Nadjim Abdou buried a short-range strike to send Millwall to Wembley at the expense of Leeds United.

The Lions sealed a 2-1 aggregate victory after their 74th minute equalier silenced the faithful at Elland Road.

It was a goal that threw The Den into raptures, dispatched with coolness befitting Millwall's record goalscorer.

Nevertheless, Neil Harris' second half winner on Saturday has merely nudged the Lions past Leeds by a nose in the race to Wembley.

Millwall fans have spent several weeks thumbing through the classifieds for their rivals' results as the promotion race enters the home straight.

They now have a great chance to stake their claim for automatic promotion in a six-pointer against Peterborough at 7.45pm on Easter Monday.

Jermaine Beckford's brace secured a win for Leeds against promotion challengers Millwall - but the striker was lucky to be on the pitch after seeming to elbow keeper David Forde in the face.

Beckford escaped with a yellow card after clattering Forde in the chin during the second half.

Saturday's League One clash at The Den is all-ticket and the club have confirmed they are no longer on sale.

Last weekend’s home defeat against Leeds United summed up our season well.

The Lions played well, putting the giants of the division under pressure in the second half and creating quite a few chances.

But you just knew that if we did not take one of those chances we would live to regret it. Predictably Leeds broke upfield and Prutton mis-hit a shot that squirmed into the bottom corner. One-nil then turned into 2-0 and it was game over for Millwall.
