Baliffs marched into the Cannon Workshops bar and padlocked the doors after operator Kar Ventures defaulted on rent payments.

BARS and restaurants in West India Quay say they are optimistic they can succeed despite two in the strip falling foul of the credit crunch.

Following the recent demise of independently owned Beluga, Dion customers were informed last week the bar would also close.

RESTAURANTS may be disappearing by the week in Canary Wharf, but the area’s retail managers are refusing to buckle amid the gloomy news.

This week, plans for a Tom’s Kitchen at Canada Square were scrapped, while Dion joined Beluga in shutting its doors for good at West India Quay.
