Police hunt gang after DLR attack

A commuter who asked a group of teenagers to stop spitting at fellow passengers was followed down the road and attacked.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, was at Greenwich DLR on Monday June 22, when he confronted the group on the platform.

A good service is reported on the DLR and on the Thames Clippers river services.

Out on the area's roads there are no serious problems, although traffic is building around the Blackwall Tunnel approaches.

Transport for London is reporting a "decent staff turnout" despite the launch of a 48-hour strike on the tube yesterday evening.

It stated that several members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union turned up for work today, reducing disruption on the underground as a battle over pay and redundancies rages.

Roadworks around South Quay DLR station are now likely to continue until September.

Transport for London announced last January that the westbound lane of Marsh Wall would be closed for about 18 months for the construction of a new three-car-friendly station.

The Velvet Underground, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd are just a few of high profile artists to benefit from the work of Martin Richman.

The installation artist started out as a lighting designer for the music industry.

DLR reopens after early completion of works

DLR passengers were given some good news as services reopened to the east of Canary Wharf on Monday morning.

Engineering works had taken place for the previous 10 days and were due to continue until Tuesday. However, they were completed on Sunday.
The whole network is now operational.

Canary Wharf Tube shut after fire alarm

The Underground station at Canary Wharf closed due to a fire alert on Tuesday lunchtime.

Passengers were evacuated at about 12.45pm and people were still not being allowed back in at 1.30pm.

Blazing sunlight hit my eyes as I walked out of Island Gardens DLR.

I slipped my sunglasses on, checked my watch and lent back against one of the station's cool grey walls.

A breeze stirred the leaves on the trees to my left. I was waiting for the package to arrive.

DLR closures to increase by one day

The DLR has extended the partial closure of its service at the end of the month from nine days to 10.

Works to the eastern section from East India were due to begin over the Bank Holiday weekend and carry on until Sunday May 30.

DLR passengers have been promised an "immediate effect" on their journeys following the network's extended closure for improvements.

New sections of track at Poplar and Canning Town are to be linked into the existing network, prompting a nine-day closure of stations linking East India to Prince Regent and London City Airport.

DLR put "on hold" for person on track

DLR services stalled this morning after reports of a person on the track near Bank.

Trains were put "on hold" for nearly 15 minutes during the rush-hour, and a failed train later caused severe delays to the route in and out of the City.

Station closures to hit DLR

Thousands of commuters will be hit by a week of woe due to a major closure of the DLR later this month.

Many passengers to the east of Canary Wharf will have nine days without trains from Saturday, May 23.

Transport125G.jpgAny problems? A good service is operating on the Jubilee line. All other lines are running smoothly apart from the Piccadilly, which has minor delays.
The DLR has no reported problems and the Thames Clippers river service is running smoothly.
On the roads traffic is starting to build up on the Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach as rush hour begins.

Commuters faced major problems getting to Canary Wharf and beyond this morning. A signalling problem at Canning Town halted all services from Beckton and Woolwich Arsenal. A rail replacement bus service took some of the strain and the service started to get back to normal mid-morning with DLR reporting minor delays.

A total of £18.2million will be provided to boost passenger capacity on trains serving the route, calming fears it would miss out on the upgrade being carried out on the rest of the network.
