Flights to the German city of Nuremberg were launched from London City Airport this week.

Airline CityJet is running the service twice daily with fares starting at £109 for a return journey. An oompah band greeted passengers to the inaugural flight on Sunday.

European airline Cityjet has revealed it is planning two new routes to Germany for spring next year.

Dresden, the industrial city to the east of the country, and Paderborn in central Germany will launch from London City Airport in March and April, respectively.

CityJet's inaugural flight to Munster-Osnabruck took off on Monday offering a direct link to the German city of sustainable energy.

The airline said its 19th route from London City is aimed at facilitating a new trade corridor between the cities. East London is also building a strong reputation in the green techn and renewable energies market.
