Citigroup comes out top in rugby tournament

JP Morgan lost their crown at this year's City Scrum tournament with Citigroup ended up victorious in the one day event.

Legal firm Norton Rose hosted the finals on Tuesday at the Honourable Artillery Company in the Square Mile.

Wharf businesses were well represented at the 15-team touch rugby tournament held at the Honourable Artillery Company last Wednesday, and for one it was a case of so-near-yet-so-far.

Now in its third year, the touch rugby tournament at the Honourable Artillery Company ground on March 24 has become a firm fixture on the sporting calendar.

Harlequins star Andy Gomarsall thinks Johnson, who skippered England to World Cup glory in 2003, is perfect to take on a manager’s role – and he could work with current coach Brian Ashton.

“I think he would be fantastic,� he said. “His rugby cv is the best so he would be awesome."

The City Scrum touch rugby tournament next Thursday (April 3), at the Honourable Artillery Company in City Road, will see 10 teams from banks and other institutions battle it out to be the City’s top rugby dogs.

The tournament is being organised by law firm Norton Rose, and Canary Wharf is well represented with teams from HSBC, Reuters, Citigroup and Credit Suisse all taking part.
