There was a point just before the half hour mark when the question on everyone's lips was how many Charlton would lose by rather than whether they would lose.

The Addicks had stumbled from disaster to disaster in a run at The Valley which had seen them without a win in six.

Goals from Kevin Nolan, Ricardo Vaz Te and Nicky Maynard saw West Ham cruise to victory in the second leg of the play-off semi final against Cardiff.

Monday afternoon's 3-0 victory followed up a 2-0 win in the first tie to see them take on either Birmingham or Blackpool in the final on Saturday week.

Two goals from Jack Collison saw West Ham ease past Cardiff in the away leg of their play-off semi-final on Thursday night.

The Hammers' 2-0 win over the Welsh club puts them firmly in the driving seat ahead of the return match back at Upton Park on Bank Holiday Monday.

A football supporter who fell from the top tier at Millwall and on to the seats below has been released from hospital.

Cardiff fan Ryan Oliver, 35, from Rhondda in Wales, suffered three broken fingers and some spinal damage after he dropped 20 feet while celebrating his side's equalising goal in Saturday's match.
