Teams from five countries spent two days creating elaborate works of art from blocks of ice and it was the Dutch entry, entitled Cool Trading, which was judged to be the most impressive.

The free event will take place next to the ice rink in Canada Square Park on Friday and Saturday, when five teams of international sculptors will work against the clock to carve 2x2m blocks of ice into works of art in front of the public.

There are plenty of restaurants on the Wharf. And there are plenty of bars and plenty of grills.

But there are few venues that offer the comforts of all three, and only one that boasts views over Canada Square.

Waitrose has revealed two more of its staff are now off sick with swine flu.
