More flights to France and Spain have been announced by British Airways as the airline looks to increase its network of holiday destinations.

Mahon in Menorca will launch on May 25, with flights to two French destinations, Angers in the Loire Valley and Quimper in Brittany, beginning just after.

Cityjet hopes to ramp up its services from London City Airport to Scotland.

The move will see the Air France-KLM owned airline battle British Airways for passengers to the region. It comes after Cityjet announced it was opening a base in Edinburgh.

Business is looking more rosier for aviation industry after British Airways announces huge increases to its operation at London City Airport.

The airline, through its subsidiary CityFlyer, is launching routes to Malaga, in Spain, and Faro, in Portugal, in June to add to its leisure offerings.

British Airways is casting its eye over four potential east London locations for Europe's first jet biofuel plant.
